GlobalFoundries Accepting Grant Applications
The GlobalFoundries-Town of Malta Foundation has announced that it will accept grant applications for its next round of funding to support Malta-area community organizations.
This year marks the 11th year of the foundation, a partnership between GlobalFoundries and the town of Malta. The foundation manages an investment fund that provides annual grants to organizations, programs, and projects that provide tangible benefits of a public nature to diverse groups serving residents of Malta. Those groups include nonprofit corporations, charitable organizations, community arts and theater troupes, community historical sites, special events, educational programs, and sports and recreational activities.
According to its website, the GlobalFoundries-Town of Malta Foundation seeks to fund projects that are “creative, innovative, and inclusive in their scope, and opportunities that will provide the maximum amount of benefit to the local Malta community.”
In its first year, the foundation awarded $37,500 to 13 local organizations. In 2021, the foundation granted nearly $160,000 to 24 Malta-area organizations and community projects.
As part of the development of the Fab 8 project, GF contributed a total of $5 million to fund two stand-alone 501(c)3 charitable foundations: the GlobalFoundries-Town of Malta Foundation and the GlobalFoundries-Town of Stillwater Foundation. Each foundation is managed by a separate, independent board of directors and uses income earned from investments to fund a wide variety of local community programs.
Applications for grant funding can be submitted electronically or may be downloaded and mailed to the foundation by Oct. 31, 2022. Instructions for and links to applications can be found at the foundation’s website at https://sites.google.com/site/gfmaltafoundationorg/home.
