2024 Horsemen’s Social: Bringing the Social to the Horses
Saratoga Springs, NY—The 2024 Horsemen’s Social held on June 13th, 2024, at Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga welcomed one hundred guests. This event was a networking opportunity for horse enthusiasts and allowed guests to connect with others who share a passion and love for these beautiful horses.
Thursday night our local equine community got together under the stars and enjoyed a beautiful night of live music, great food and magnificent horses! Jeff Walton created an amazing atmosphere with live music, Rollin’ Smoke BBQ provided food, Saratoga Draught Horse served drinks and the beer was donated by Druthers Brewing Company. Along with this, guests were able to participate in a silent auction with items ranging from saddles to a whimsical “Man’s Best Friend” basket.
Saratoga Springs mayor, John Stafford, attended and read a proclamation he wrote just for the event, he commended the horse industry in the area for making it such a unique place. Mayor Stafford also praised the horse industry for its beauty, history and economic impact it has on our community.
Thomas Denman from the New York Farm Bureau discussed the importance of those in the horse industry being involved in Farm Bureau. Together, the New York State Equine Industry and Farm Bureau can stand together and make a difference.
Also in attendance were the Saratoga Springs Mounted Police, with officer Glen Barrett on horse, Apollo and Sgt. Jenna Hiltz on horse, Brady. They joined us for a special meet and greet, allowing attendants to talk with our local law enforcement and of course to give extra love and attention to our four hooved officers who serve our community.
The event was hosted by CCE Equine and Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga. CCE Equine is a division of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County. CCE Equine’s goal is to provide opportunity and growth for our equine community. Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and other healing programs for individuals dealing with mental health challenges.
