Beginner Maple Syrup Course Set for January 24 in Ballston Spa

Ballston Spa, NY — Have you ever wanted to make your own maple syrup? The Milton Grange, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, will host a Beginner Maple Syrup Course on Friday, January 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the 4-H Training Center, located at 556 Middle Line Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.

This hands-on, beginner-friendly course is designed for those interested in producing maple syrup on a small scale. Participants will learn how to identify maple trees for tapping, understand when and how to tap trees, set up a basic at-home syrup operation, and explore syrup grades and maple products. The class will also include a maple syrup taste test.

Class size is limited, and early registration is strongly encouraged. The cost to attend is $30 per person or $45 for two people. Registration includes a pancake lunch with a choice of meat and beverage, as well as a sample-size bottle of maple syrup to take home.
