TROY, NY — The Business for Good Foundation (BFGF) today announced a $100,000 grant to the Troy Rehabilitation & Improvement Program (TRIP) to officially launch Pathway to Prosperity, an innovative initiative designed to expand housing attainability and foster long-term economic mobility across the Capital Region.

As a public foundation committed to breaking systemic barriers, BFGF focuses its mission on workforce innovation, housing attainability, and economic mobility. This $100,000 grant marks the start of an expanded focus on housing attainability, serving as the first in a series of upcoming initiatives and announcements designed to ensure individuals and working families have access to the right housing at the right time.

Grounded in the belief that true community health requires more than physical shelter, TRIP’s Pathway to Prosperity program will combine quality housing opportunities directly with individualized wraparound services and financial coaching to create long-term stability for its clients.

“Housing attainability is about far more than just four walls—it is about ensuring working families have the stability, dignity, and practical tools they need to stay housed and build generational resilience,” said Maire Masterson, Executive Director of the Business for Good Foundation. “Solving today’s housing pressures demands bold cross-sector collaboration. TRIP’s Pathway to Prosperity initiative translates shared vision into real action, and we are thrilled to be the catalyst that supports the program’s launch.”

“For more than fifty years, TRIP has worked alongside neighbors to build resilient communities,” said Noah Baum, President and CEO of TRIP & RCHR. “Today’s economic climate requires holistic solutions that combine physical reinvestment with human empowerment. This $100,000 investment from the Business for Good Foundation enables us to launch Pathway to Prosperity as a comprehensive engine for growth, ensuring families not only find safe housing, but also secure the financial footing to sustain it over the long term.”

“Ensuring our local workforce can afford to live in the neighborhoods they strengthen every day is critical to our region’s economic health,” said New York State Assemblymember John T. McDonald III. “When healthcare workers, educators, and service professionals face escalating housing costs, the entire community feels the strain. This partnership between the Business for Good Foundation and TRIP exemplifies the collaborative, forward-thinking leadership required to protect our housing stock and build lasting stability from the ground up.”

“Strong communities start with stable housing, and the launch of Pathway to Prosperity demonstrates a meaningful investment toward that goal,” said City of Troy Mayor Carmella R. Mantello. “By pairing quality, attainable housing with financial counseling, credit building, debt reduction, and other wraparound services, this program is giving hardworking members of our community the tools they need to build a stronger future. I commend the Business for Good Foundation and TRIP for investing directly in Troy families and our local workforce, and I look forward to seeing the lasting impact this partnership will have throughout our city.”

Pathway to Prosperity will deliver its clients a coordinated framework designed to resolve housing vulnerabilities early and provide residents with actionable pathways to lasting self-sufficiency. The key tenets of the program will be:

  • Neighborhood Housing Revitalization: Investing in the modernization, and quality upgrade of community housing inventory to ensure local working families and individuals have direct access to safe, dignified, and energy-efficient homes.
  • Workforce Housing Access: Broadening attainable housing options for local workers—including teachers, healthcare staff, civil servants, and nonprofit employees—who face increasing cost-of-living and rent burdens.
  • Proactive Housing Stability: Delivering individualized housing counseling, proactive eviction-prevention services, landlord-tenant mediation, and direct referrals to community-based resources.
  • Financial Empowerment & Education: Providing one-on-one coaching in household budgeting, structured credit-repair and credit-building plans, debt-reduction strategies, and savings tools to build financial resilience.
  • Sustainable Generational Mobility: Equipping households with the tools, skills, and stability needed to remain securely housed, build personal equity, and cultivate lasting independence.

The new program is now available to the individuals and communities currently served by TRIP’s work.
