Free Seed Libraries Help Saratoga County Residents Grow This Spring

Cornell Cooperative Extension and Master Gardeners expand community resources for new and experienced gardeners
Have you been dreaming about getting your hands in the soil again? As spring approaches, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County is helping residents turn those garden plans into reality.
Whether you’re a first-time gardener or looking to grow something new this season, support is available. CCE horticulture educators and Master Gardener Volunteers are ready to answer questions and provide trusted, research-based gardening advice.
This year, CCE Horticulture Educator Madison Blodgett, with the help of Master Gardener Volunteers, has expanded Seed Libraries across Saratoga County. These community “libraries” offer free seeds along with educational materials to help gardeners succeed. Each location also includes QR codes linking visitors to additional gardening resources and information.
The goal of the Seed Library program is simple: provide equal access, education, and empowerment so more people can experience the benefits of gardening.
Starting a garden may seem intimidating, but you don’t have to do it alone. Visit a local Seed Library this spring, pick up some seeds, and start growing.
