Performance Industrial’s Drive Out Cancer Golf League Returns August 7 for Seventh Year — $230,000 Raised to Date, Foursomes Still Open

10-week traveling format runs August 7 through October 7 across ten Capital Region courses, benefiting the American Cancer Society and the Real Men Wear Pink campaign that ranked third in the nation last year.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — Performance Industrial will host the seventh annual Drive Out Cancer Golf League, a 10-week traveling tournament benefiting the American Cancer Society, beginning Friday, August 7 and running through Wednesday, October 7. Since Performance Industrial owner Bill Miller founded the league in 2020, it has raised over $230,000 for cancer research, treatment, and patient support. Foursome registration remains open.

The league’s format is uncommon among Capital Region charity tournaments: ten weeks of golf at ten different courses, including private member-access clubs that most regional players don’t otherwise get to play. Two weeks feature 18 holes; the remaining eight feature 9-hole rounds, each followed by a post-round mixer with food, drinks, and prizes. Players representing each foursome can change from week to week — a format originally designed so corporate teams could invite a different client, vendor, or guest each round.

The league’s fundraising rolls up into the Real Men Wear Pink of the Capital Region campaign — an American Cancer Society initiative that raised over $500,000 in the region last year, ranking it third nationally among all Real Men Wear Pink markets.

“When I started this in 2020, I just wanted to put together something that would actually move real money to the American Cancer Society and give people a good reason to show up,” said Bill Miller, owner of Performance Industrial and the league’s founder. “Seven years later, we’re past $230,000. The format keeps working because business owners can use it for client time and still feel good about where their dollars are going. We’re looking for a few more teams to round out the schedule. Every foursome that signs up is another check the Society receives.”

Foursome entries are $5,000 per team. Of that, $500 covers league operating costs and $4,500 is a tax-deductible contribution to the American Cancer Society. Each foursome receives four premium player gift packages, recognition across league signage and digital materials, and extended visibility through the Real Men Wear Pink Capital Region campaign.

Individual-week sponsorship opportunities are also available, including Food Sponsor at $1,500, Cart Sponsor at $1,000, Hole Sponsor at $750, and Challenge Sponsor (donate a prize for golfers to compete for).
