[SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY] – This fall, give the gift of a harvest shared. Through its 2026 Harvest Box Program, Pitney Meadows Community Farm is inviting the community to take part in its “Buy a Box, Give a Box” campaign, turning the abundance of the fall harvest into an opportunity to nourish more neighbors. For $100, community members can purchase a Harvest Box filled with a generous assortment of seasonal vegetables grown right here at Pitney Meadows, including carrots, winter squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, turnips, and radicchio. Every box purchased helps share fresh, locally grown food with a neighbor, extending the harvest beyond your own table and helping more people in our community enjoy the food grown right here at home.

But the Harvest Box Program is about more than bringing a bounty of the season home. Through its “Buy a Box, Give a Box” approach, each purchase helps share the harvest with a neighbor who could use a little extra support this season. Your purchase nourishes your own table while helping put fresh, nourishing food on another table in our community, too.

“The harvest is a time to come together, and we’re so grateful to have a community that believes in sharing what we grow,” says Brooke McConnell, Executive Director of Pitney Meadows Community Farm. “The Harvest Box Program is a simple way to extend that abundance beyond the farm… to bring fresh, local food to your own table while helping make sure a neighbor can enjoy it, too. We hope people will join us in whatever way feels meaningful to them, whether that’s taking home a Harvest Box, sharing the bounty with our neighbors, or coming together to pack boxes for our community.”

A Local Harvest, Shared Locally

The Harvest Box Program is part of Pitney Meadows’ broader Food for All program, which connects local agriculture with hunger relief and healthcare, reaching thousands of individuals each month.

Through Food for All, Pitney Meadows provides fresh, intentionally grown food, not leftovers, through local pantry distribution, healthcare partnerships, and clinically designed Food as Medicine programs. The program works to expand access to nutritious, locally sourced food while supporting regional farmers and honoring the dignity of every person who participates. Pitney Meadows has donated more than 100,000 servings of fresh, local produce through this work, building partnerships that connect the farm’s harvest with people and organizations throughout the community. The Harvest Box Program is one more way to extend that work into the fall harvest season, giving community members an opportunity to participate in sharing the food grown at Pitney Meadows.

“There’s something powerful about knowing that food grown right here can help nourish people right here in our community,” says Daniel Williams, Assistant Farm Manager, Food for All Programs at Pitney Meadows. “Food for All is about more than getting food from one place to another. It’s about creating meaningful connections between local agriculture, health, and our community. The Harvest Box Program gives people a chance to be part of that work and help share the abundance of the farm.”

Growing Food. Sharing Food. Nourishing Community.

At its heart, the Harvest Box Program is about sharing the abundance of the farm with our community. Through the “Buy a Box, Give a Box” approach, every purchase helps extend the harvest beyond the farm and onto the tables of our neighbors. When you bring a Harvest Box home, you’re nourishing your own table while helping make fresh, locally grown food available to others in our community.

And there are many ways to be part of that sharing. You can purchase a Harvest Box, help share the harvest with your neighbors, or join us at the farm to help pack boxes. Together, we can make sure the food grown here has a chance to nourish people throughout our community.

“At the end of the day, we grow food so people can eat,” says Stephen Lewis, Farm Director at Pitney Meadows Community Farm. “To see what we grow here become a meal on a neighbor’s table… that’s what makes the work matter.”
