Leadership Capital Region Class of 2026 & SCAP to Celebrate Sojourn House Transformation Project with Ribbon Cutting

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Leadership Capital Region (LCR) Class of 2026, in partnership with the Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP), will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the Sojourn House Transformation Project.

Over the past several months, LCR participants led a full revitalization of SCAP’s Sojourn House, a transitional residence supporting mothers and children experiencing homelessness in Schenectady County. The project included extensive interior and exterior upgrades made possible through fundraising, volunteer support, and in-kind contributions from community partners.

The event will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at SCAP Sojourn House, located at 1567 Union Street in Schenectady. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for approximately 2:00 p.m.

Attendees will include members of the Leadership Capital Region Class of 2026, Schenectady Community Action Program leadership, Capital Region Chamber leadership, Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara, and community partners, sponsors, and volunteers.

Members of the media will have opportunities to capture the ribbon-cutting ceremony, tour the renovated space, interview community leaders and volunteers, and view the interior and exterior improvements completed through the project.
