Feeding Horses: The Art and Science of Equine Nutrition
Saratoga Springs, NY — Horse owners, equine professionals, and enthusiasts gathered on Saturday, October 18, in Saratoga Springs for Feeding Horses: The Art and Science of Equine Nutrition, a hands-on educational workshop focused on practical equine feeding techniques.
Building on the success of April’s equine nutrition class, this fall session went beyond theory, featuring live demonstrations, feed evaluations, and practical measuring exercises to help participants better understand the dietary needs of horses.
The program included presentations by Triple Crown nutritionists and equine experts, offering attendees practical insights into evaluating feed quality, comparing nutritional standards, and tailoring diets to individual horses.
Hosted by Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga at their farm on 683 Route 29, the event was presented by the Saratoga County Cornell Cooperative Extension Equine Program and NY Breds.
Attendees enjoyed a full day of learning, lunch, and an equine nutrition goodie bag, with youth participants attending free of charge. The hands-on format allowed participants to apply their knowledge directly with live horses, reinforcing key concepts in equine health and nutrition.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for horse owners and enthusiasts to expand their understanding of equine nutrition while connecting with experts and fellow community members.
